Jojo Bragais is a Filipino designer from the Philippines known for creating pageant shoes that blend style, strength, and comfort without making compromises. In recent years, the name Jojo Bragais has become synonymous to the nude platform pageant heels which have been the official shoes of the Binibining Pilipinas pageant since 2015.

Jojo Bragais Birth, Family, and Education
When Jojo was a kid, he did really well in school, always getting good grades and being on the honor roll. However, he wasn’t like other students who went to school every single day just to get high grades. When kids were asked why they wanted to go to school, most would say it’s to get good grades. But for Jojo, he was okay with going to school just because he enjoyed learning. He was more interested in gaining knowledge. Also, he easily got bored, especially when he felt the teacher was just reading from the lesson, so there were times he wouldn’t go to class. Jojo Albao Bragais was raised in Albay, Bicol, by his parents, Diomedes and Elsie Bragais. He’s the youngest among his four siblings. Even though he’s a licensed midwife and nurse, he didn’t end up working in those professions. Instead, fate guided him towards becoming a shoemaker.

Jojo Bragais Career
Jojo started as a nurse but always had a creative interest in shoes. So, he began making shoes as a hobby. Initially, he had a small factory with just two assistants, offering custom-made everyday shoes.
In late 2013, Jojo realized that making shoes was his true calling. A moment that made it clear was when a client sincerely thanked him for creating special custom shoes for her daughter. That’s when he realized he enjoyed making shoes for special occasions.
Months later, he sponsored a friend in a beauty pageant, and his unique shoe designs caught the attention of a national organization. Soon after, he gained international recognition. Today, he’s the only Filipino shoe designer in the big leagues, even becoming the official sponsor of the 69th Miss Universe pageant.
Filipino pageant fans were very happy when Miss Universe 2020 announced that the local brand Bragais would be its official shoe sponsor. This is a big deal because it’s the first time a Filipino shoe brand is being featured in such a prestigious pageant, alongside well-known global brands like Chinese Laundry, Payless Shoe Source, and Stuart Weitzman.
